Question for Mama T’s non-black friends: ain’t none of y’all know dat most church-going black folk call a funeral a home-going; the meal after is da repast; an when they born, they enter into time an when they die they enter into eternity? Please, y’all. Say one of y’all knew. Pretty please. Wid sugar on top. See nah, dat ret there . . . dat’s just wrong. An I’m gettin sick an tied of dem reporters talkin bout “Da family’s callin it a home-goin service.” Ain’t reporters ‘sposed ta check things out befo they go on da air? Next time they betta ax sumbody cos dis ain’t da first black family to call it dat an it ain’t gonna be da last. Huge sigh . . .
Well, dis one’s for you, Ms. Whitney. He got yo hand now. RIP.
Donna
Amens!!
Sunrise and Sunset……
Thank you Donna. Even a dog (a smart and sassy one, I might add) knows more about home goings than the media. I cringed when I heard the reporter act so stupid and patronizing about “home-going”…. A shout out (or should I say “Woof” out) to you Donna, for calling it like you see it. Woof, woof!
Well, nah, dat was a true black church/funeral experience. Da only things missing was da praise dancers (for da church experience) and da clowning (for da funeral).
you mean like ray j??
